Bogor, balaibahasajateng.kemendikdasmen.go.id—The Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education strengthened its synergy with the mass media by holding the 2026 Silaturahmi (Communal Gathering) with the Education Journalist Forum (Fortadik). The event served as a platform for open discussion to enhance communication and establish strategic partnerships in disseminating the ministry’s priority programs.
The forum was opened by the Head of the Agency for Language Development and Cultivation, Hafidz Muksin, who expressed his appreciation to the media as a strategic partner in ensuring transparent public information, promoting priority programs, and publicizing the ministry’s achievements. As one of the pillars of the Catur Pusat Pendidikan (Four Education Centers), the media plays an important role in the collective effort to achieve national education development and Quality Education for All (Pendidikan Bermutu untuk Semua).
“Today, we will discuss two main issues: the ministry’s commitment to language and literature through the management of the KBBI (Indonesian Comprehensive Dictionary), as well as updates regarding the TKA (Academic Ability Test) for primary and secondary school students. The development of the KBBI is carried out through scientific, professional, comprehensive, and sustainable efforts that will bring us closer to the internationalization of bahasa Indonesia by 2045,” Hafidz stated at the event held on Friday, January 23.
Indonesian Comprehensive Dictionary (Kamus Besar Bahas Indonesia/KBBI)
To open the first session, the Head of the Center for Language and Literature Development and Preservation, Dora Amalia, delivered a presentation on the KBBI. She emphasized that the dictionary continues to evolve in line with social and cultural developments.
“As of January 2026, the KBBI recorded significant growth, with 210,000 entries and more than 325,000 registered users of its online version. Public enthusiasm is also reflected in the positive trend of the mobile application, which has reached 5 million downloads on the Play Store and over 297,000 downloads on the App Store,” Dora explained.
Dora added that the long journey of the KBBI began with the preparation of its first edition between 1974 and 1983 under the title Kamus Bahasa Indonesia. As of 2026, the KBBI has been published in six editions, with the most recent released in October 2025.
“The fifth edition, published in 2016, marked an important milestone in the early development of the digital version of the KBBI. Furthermore, the KBBI has incorporated disability-inclusive features, including braille and audio dictionary formats,” Dora stated.
Academic Ability Test (TKA)
The second session featured a presentation from the Education Standards, Curriculum, and Assessment Agency (BSKAP) regarding the Academic Ability Test (TKA) for primary and secondary school students. The Secretary of BSKAP, Muhammad Yusro, stated that the test will be conducted from April 6–16, 2026, for secondary school students and from April 20–30, 2026, for primary school students.
“Regarding the preparation of the test materials, each regency/city is required to submit at least one set of questions per subject per grade level. For quality assurance, teachers appointed by provincial authorities will serve as National Quality Assurance Facilitators, as designated by the Ministry. Provincial authorities are also responsible for assigning teachers to conduct the editing, supervision, validation, and verification of the test materials,” Yusro said.
Furthermore, Yusro explained that test registration is open from January 19 to February 28, 2026. He emphasized that the effective implementation of the test is a shared responsibility of the national and local governments, ministries/institutions, and participating schools. Additional information and test simulations are available on the official website at tka.kemendikdasmen.go.id, as well as on the Ministry’s and BSKAP’s social media channels.
“The Academic Ability Test is inclusive for students with disabilities. Monitoring of potential cheating will be coordinated with the Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs. We hope the test scheduled for April will proceed smoothly and generate accurate and objective data on students’ learning outcomes,” Yusro added.
On the same occasion, Yusro mentioned that the Director General of Early Childhood Education, Primary Education, and Secondary Education has signed Circular Letter Number 0301/C/HK.04.01/2026 regarding the student enrollment system for the 2026/2027 academic year.
“The results of the Academic Ability Test may be used as part of the academic achievement pathway for secondary school admissions. This reinforces the role of the TKA as an objective and standardized benchmark in the student enrollment process,” Yusro concluded.[dro]
